The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme
CHAS is fully committed to the principles of SSIP. Only through schemes such as SSIP can the construction industry hope to reduce (the estimated) hundreds of millions of pounds wasted each year by procurers "doing their own thing" in health and safety prequalification.

SSIP - Deem to satisfy

CHAS is committed to avoiding duplication within prequalification and is a founder member of the Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) Competence Forum. If you have already been assessed by another SSIP member you can apply for registration by downloading and completing the "Deem to satisfy" application form below.

Please refer to the SSIP website for details of SSIP members.

Please note that if you have previously registered with CHAS as either Failed or Failed to Resubmit the deem to satisfy entitlement is forfeited. You will have to make an application to CHAS for registration.

SSIP and Constructionline

This does not apply if you have registered with Constructionline as they do not assess or validate any health and safety information submitted to them. For this reason SSIP registered schemes do not recognise Constructionline as being an automatic demonstration of health and safety competence. Read more about Constructionline and SSIP
