CHAS Glossary

  • BUYER: Formally known as ‘Client Members’. Any organisation or business buying goods and services from a supplier.
  • SUPPLIER: Formally known as ‘Contractors’. Any organisation or business who provides goods or services for or to a buyer
  • SME: Small to Medium sized Enterprise: up to 250 employees.
  • CDM-C: Construction and Design Management Co-ordinator.
  • CDM: Construction (Design and Management).
  • HVCA: Heating Ventilation Contractors Association.
  • SPEC: Specialist Concrete Contractors Association.
  • ISO: International Organisation for Standardisation.
  • Pre-qualification: Before being qualified to tender for work.
  • RIDDOR: The Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations.
  • ARCA: Asbestos Removal Contractors Association.
  • CSCS: Construction Skills Certification Scheme.
