IMPORTANT: HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION (Fair Processing Notice)
Merton Council as the administrator of the Contractors Health & Safety assessment scheme (CHAS) is required by law to protect the public and private funds it administers. It may share information provided to it with other bodies responsible for auditing or administering such funds, in order to prevent and detect fraud.
The Audit Commission appoints the auditor to audit the accounts of this authority.
CHAS will report any suspected breaches of the IOSH Code of conduct or the IIRSM Code of Ethics by their members. Information you supply to CHAS and its partners may be disclosed to IOSH or IIRSM in evidence.
CHAS and its partners (a full list of our partners is available
here) will use your business and personal details and information to set up and administer your relationship with us, to provide business details to a health and safety database used for reducing prequalification in the tendering and approved list process. We will provide evidence of status in CHAS to non-partners upon request.
We may use the information for customer services, to analyse your preferences and to ensure where possible that the content and services our scheme offers are tailored to meet your and our partner’s needs.
We and our partners may also use your information for record-keeping, statistical, research and evaluation. Your information will continue to be used as described here by other partners even if we cease to use it or cease to exist.
CHAS and our partners will use your business data to contact you by post, telephone, e mail or other electronic messaging service to provide services relating to CHAS such as assessment or accreditation reminders. CHAS will provide data to selected insurance brokers who may offer “accredited contractors” with an added benefit in the form of discounted niche insurance products.
We may provide relevant health surveillance information provided to us to “Constructing Better Health” so they can offer advice to you regarding achieving compliance with regulations in this area. Your data will not be used for any other purpose such as marketing of other products and services.
If you do not want your business details passed to a third party for the purposes described above you should email chas.admin@merton.gov.uk and enter your company name and UNSUBSCRIBE in the header bar.
